The language Arabic >> The Arabic language is a rich and fascinating language with a long and ancient history. Arabic texts have been found since the 8^th century BC. The earliest surviving written Arabic words are the Hasaean inscriptions of eastern Saudi Arabia. Then in the 6^th century BC, Arabic texts from South Eastern Saudi Arabia found throughout Arabia.

The Modern Arabic language is based on Classical Arabic, which has been found in pre-Islamic Arabic inscriptions dating back to the 4th century. Islam has used Arabic language as its liturgical language since its inception in the 7th century.

The Arabic language has influenced on other languages of the Islamic world. Turkish, Urdu, Persian and other languages of the Islamic world have borrowed words from Arabic. Arabic language had also been used as a major vehicle of culture in Europe during the Middle Ages, particularly in the fields of philosophy, science and mathematics.

The Arabic language has influenced also on many European languages. Many European languages, such as Spanish,  Portuguese, and Sicilian have borrowed a number of words from Arabic language. This came about due to 700 years of Arab rule in the Iberian Peninsula and the proximity of European and Arab civilizations.

Religious studies, foreign languages and Middle Eastern studies in Universities around the world have courses with Arabic as part of their curriculum. There are also a number Arabic language schools that exist to help students in learning the Arabic language.

Arabic language can also be learnt using software and books with CDs. Some radio stations also provide a series of Arabic language lessons, and further distance education can be done on the Internet, using online classes.
